As part of our preparation of a Neighbourhood plan, PVNF commissioned planning consultants AECOM to prepare a Design Code that will set out clear principles for new development, changes to existing buildings and the use and treatment of public spaces within the PVNF area.
The need to improve the quality of new development and protect the character of the area’s heritage are issues that have emerged from our consultation events as having high priorities for the Plan. We are delighted with the final piece of work which is a comprehensive piece of work.
It sets out clear principles for new development, renovations and changes to existing buildings and the use and treatment of public spaces. It has done this by looking at the character of the Neighbourhood area and idenitified 4 area types, these being:
- Commercial hubs
- Historical residential
- Inter and post war residential
- Conservation areas
From these distinct area types Design Codes appropriate to each area type have been prepared.
A copy of the Design Code has been sent to Bury Council and they will also be publishing a copy of their website.
Once our Neighbourhood Plan has been approved, the Design Code will form part of the Neighbourhood Plan and the Statutory Plan for the Forum area
